The Give-Back Vision
Realized that my struggle with shipping wasn't unique. Decided to turn sharifventures into a platform that helps other builders - especially university students - go from idea to launch.
As I reflected on my own challenges, I realized I wasn't alone. There are countless talented builders, especially in universities, who have great ideas but lack the structure, accountability, and guidance to ship them. This insight led to the core vision: what if sharifventures could be the accountability and support system I wished I'd had? What if we could help others break the same cycle I was stuck in?
The Decision
We created sharifventures as an accountability mechanism - a way to allow myself and others to ship by building in public and committing to a mission bigger than just personal projects.
sharifventures wasn't born from a grand business plan - it was born from necessity. By creating a company with a public mission, we are essentially putting our reputation on the line. To deliver on our personal commitment to ship meaningful work, we need to be accountable to ourselves and others.
The Origin
sharifventures was born from a simple belief: technology should serve humanity's highest aspirations while maintaining unwavering ethical standards.
After years of working in various tech companies, I recognized a gap in the market for investment and development that truly prioritized both innovation and ethics. The idea for sharifventures emerged from countless conversations with founders who felt pressured to compromise their values for growth. We decided to prove that principled business could be both profitable and impactful.
Current Focus
Working on launching the first real products through both Labs and Pipeline program, with Refines.ai as the first major test of the new accountability framework.
Today marks the beginning of the real test. Refines.ai, an LLM safety SDK, is in active development as both a Labs project and a potential Pipeline program case study. This is where the rubber meets the road - can the accountability framework I've built actually help me ship a meaningful product? The stakes feel higher now because it's not just about me anymore; it's about proving that this model can work for others too.
